Have you ever heard of Japanese lunch boxes called “Bento”?
“Oh, boy – Obento! These yummy, healthy lunches are all the rage in Japan, where mothers create them as expressions of love for their children.” –Authors Crystal Watanabe and Maki Ogawa
Yes, it is an expression of love – and maybe even a quiet competition – among mothers to fix the best looking and most delicious lunch box for their children.
If you love cooking, and arts & crafts, you might enjoy these customs of Japan, and really enjoy creating bento boxes for your family.
Well, just looking at these pictures is fun. I bought this book for my friend from Finland who has been living in Japan with her family since last summer. Her children go to a Japanese elementary school and kindergarten, so I thought she might enjoy it.
Little Red Riding Hood!

I bought this book from Costco here in Japan! It’s amazing what you can find at Costco! (If you’re in the U.S., you can also buy Yum-Yum Bento Box at Amazon.)
